An Aurora man was arrested at his home Tuesday morning and charged with possessing hundreds of images and videos of child pornography.
Niraj V. Patel, 37, of the 3600 block of Gabrielle Lane, faces three counts of dissemination of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, according to a statement released from Naperville police.
Authorities executed a search warrant early Tuesday at Patel’s home following a seven-month investigation into the distribution of child pornography. Police said during the investigation, Patel moved from the 1400 block of Fairway Drive in Naperville to the Aurora address.
Charges allege that Patel was responsible for downloading and distributing hundreds of images and videos of children engaged in sexual conduct, police said. In addition, police reported he was in possession of a semi-automatic rifle without having a Firearm Owner’s Identification card.
He is being held at the DuPage County Jail on a $500,000 bond, police said. Court records indicate Patel is set to appear in court on March 10.
