Cocaine, marijuana and syringes were allegedly found inside the vehicle of an Aurora man on Thursday after he was pulled over by police in Montgomery.

Alex Rodriguez, 29, 2900 block of Water’s Edge Circle, was stopped for a traffic violation near Route 30 and Gordon Road when the arrest was made.

According to an incident report, when he stopped Rodriguez, the responding officer smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle,-which was occupied by two children and Rodriguez’s fiance, police said.

Rodriguez told police that someone inside the vehicle earlier had been smoking marijuana, and that there were no drugs in the car. Police, though, said they found 3 grams of marijuana and a smoking pipe inside a pink diaper bag inside the car.

Located between the two children in the back seat, police found a black backpack belonging to Rodriguez. Inside the backpack were nine syringes and four bags of cocaine weighing 1.2 grams, police said.

Rodriguez told the police that he had just grabbed the bag from his garage, and had no idea the drugs were inside.

Police charged Rodriguez with possession of a controlled substance, possession of hypodermic needles, no insurance, improper lane usage, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said the Department of Child and Family Services was contacted and would be conducting an investigation into the welfare of the children.
