On the ground, frozen Chicago can be overwhelmingly cold, frustrating and sometimes unbearable. But from above, it can appear almost serene.

At least that’s how it appears in “Chicago: A Bird’s-Eye View V – Chiberia Returns,” the fifth video in a series of aerial videos of frozen Chicago from Soaring Badgers Productions. (See the fourth video here).

News freelance photographer and videographer Colin Hinkle, who owns the production company, released the 3-minute, 13-second video on Sunday. It features four weeks of footage he shot in January and February 2015 in temperatures ranging from -6 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

“After the huge popularity of my first winter video I became determined to create something even more spectacular showcasing the beauty of winter in Chicago,” Hinkle wrote in the latest video’s description. “I honestly hate cold weather but when I would get home and review the footage I shot, it would inspire me to continue shooting.”

Hinkle said he shot the video using a GoPro Hero 4 camera and a DJI Inspire 1 quadcopter, and was able to capture aerial footage of the 2015 Chicago Outdoor Hockey League (COHL) All Star Game. More shots from the video are below:
