Indian Prairie District 204 officials have disciplined a student who was involved in a fight with a South Elgin basketball player following Friday basketball game against Metea Valley High School in Aurora.
“At this point, school administrators believe the incident involved only one Metea Valley student. Student discipline action has been taken,” said Janet Buglio, executive director of communication services for District 204.
Buglio said school administrators are cooperating with the Aurora Police in their investigation of the incident. She could not comment to the type of punishment or age of the disciplined student.
A South Elgin High School basketball player alleges he was battered Friday night by players from Metea Valley High School as he tried to board the team bus after their game at Metea Valley. Metea Valley won the Upstate Eight Conference game, 76-64.
District 204 also would not confirm whether the disciplined student was a member of the basketball team.
The injured South Elgin boy, 16, who needed three stitches to close a cut above his eye after the incident, alleged he was battered about 9:30 p.m. and said several teammates intervened to protect him, according to Aurora police.
