An Aurora man pulled a knife on officers and threatened to kill a paramedic after he flew into a rage over his poor Internet service, police said Monday.

According to Aurora police reports, officers were called to a home in the 200 block of North Ohio Street around 9:05 p.m. Saturday by a family member of Miguel Luna, Jr. 26. The caller told dispatchers that Luna had become outraged over the home’s poor Internet connection and began throwing things around the house. He was allegedly smashing glass, throwing weights down the stairs, and had locked himself in his room.

When officers arrived they found Luna inside his room, police said. The walls were covered with graffiti, which included derogatory statements about police.

After he was approached by police, Luna allegedly rushed out of his room and told officers to shoot him. He then pulled out a knife and threatened officers, police said.

Aurora police said one officer attempted to shoot Luna with a stun gun, but missed Luna’s body and stuck his shirt instead. Luna was not affected by the shot, but eventually complied with officers’ requests to drop the knife.

He was taken to an awaiting ambulance where police said he struggled with paramedics. Police said Luna is accused of threatening to kill one paramedic if she made him leave the ambulance and go into the hospital.

Luna told police that he was off medication and was then involuntarily committed to the psychiatric unit of an Aurora hospital, according to reports.

He was charged with felony aggravated assault to a peace officer, two counts of aggravated assault, and resisting arrest.

According to police reports, Luna was on probation after having spent time in the Cook County jail for allegedly stabbing his brother.
