At least three people were wounded by gunfire since Friday evening, police said.
A 29-year-old man was shot about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the city’s Logan Square neighborhood.
The man was standing on the sidewalk in the 2700 block of West Cortland Street when someone inside a passing dark-colored sedan fired shots, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago police spokesman.
The man was shot in the right side of his torso and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where his condition stabilized. Police said the man is a documented gang member.
Hours earlier, a 23-year-old man was wounded in another drive-by shooting in the city’s Englewood neighborhood.
About 6:30 p.m. Friday, the man was in the 7100 block of South Vincennes Avenue when someone inside a light-colored vehicle approached and opened fire, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.
The man was shot in his abdomen and leg and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital where his condition stabilized, Greer said.
No one was in custody in connection with either shooting as of early Saturday.
An 18-year-old man was shot by police after he allegedly tried to pull a handgun on officers in Englewood early Saturday, police said.
Police observed the man struggling to park a car, and after running the license plate, discovered the car was stolen, police said. The man fled in the stolen car and then crashed into several parked cars. He then allegedly tried to pull out a handgun and was shot by the officers, police said.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Two women also were in the stolen vehicle. One woman was hospitalized for minor injuries, and the other was unharmed. No officers were injured.
