Aurora police said a man parked his car facing the wrong direction in the middle of Eola Road during rush-hour traffic on Tuesday.

Officers responded to Eola Road and Village Green Drive around 5:41 p.m. after callers reported that a vehicle was parked facing north in a southbound lane and that it was blocking traffic.

Behind the wheel was William Gwaltney, 44, 400 block of Sudbury Circle in Oswego, police said.

According to Aurora police reports, officers saw a bottle of Crown Royal whiskey inside the car, and a glass full of whiskey in a cup holder.

Police said Gwaltney appeared to be falling asleep when they approached him, and that he had no idea he was parked in the street.

As he got out of his car, officers said Gwaltney swayed and mumbled. He also had trouble walking, they said.

Gwaltney was placed under arrest and charged with drunken driving.
