After receiving a complaint about parking, Kenilworth police were alerted to a Feb. 6 party they brought to an early end, issuing tickets for underage alcohol possession and marijuana possession, they said.

A 17-year-old Kenilworth girl was ticketed for hosting the party, at a home on the 600 block of Wayland Avenue, Sgt. Bryan Carlson said Feb. 9. The girl, whose parents weren’t at home when the party took place, also got ticketed for illegal consumption of alcohol as a minor, police said.

Police charged a 17-year-old Wilmette boy with illegal possession of marijuana, consuming alcohol as a minor, and obstruction, Carlson said, after he ran from officers before he was apprehended.

A third teen, Christopher Lane, 18, of 1422 Edgewood Lane in Winnetka, was ticketed for consuming alcohol as a minor.

None of the teens received court dates for their tickets.

Carlson said officers were called to the house shortly before 10:30 p.m. Feb. 6.

“It was actually called in as a parking complaint, due to the amount of cars parked in front of the house and on that block,” he said.

Police were unable to determine how many people actually attended the party, since most of the guests “scattered as soon as they saw officers,” Carlson added.
