Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples.
Friends and families who want to celebrate love can do it at a mother/son Valentine bowl, a concert with chocolate lovers in mind and kids’ story time, among other events in the south suburbs.

Dance, dine and help raise money for the American Cancer Society at Romance the Night Away Valentine’s Dance from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Bolingbrook Golf Club, 2001 Rodeo Drive.
Tickets are $50 per person or $95 per couple. The event will include an auction and cash bar.
Proceeds will benefit Save 2nd Base Relay For Life team.

The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra invites music and chocolate lovers to Cello + Chocolate: An Exploration of the Senses at 8 p.m. Feb. 7 at Lincoln-Way North Performing Arts Center, 19900 S. Harlem Ave.
The evening will feature a solo performance by cellist Joshua Roman, a selection of truffles from Chicago’s Vosges Haut-Chocolat and a pre-concert chocolate tasting talk.

The Joliet Area Historical Museum, 204 N. Ottawa St., will host “Love Is at the Museum” from noon to 5 p.m. Feb. 15.
The event will include scavenger hunts, guided gallery tours, a Charlie Brown Valentine’s movie and crafts. Goodie bags and light refreshments will be provided while supplies last.
Participants who renew or start a museum membership will be entered into drawings for raffle prizes.
Museum admission is $6, $5 for seniors, $4 for full-time students and $3 for ages 4 to 17.

Mokena
The Mokena Community Park District’s Mother & Son Valentine Bowl will be from noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 14 at Thunder Bowl, 18700 S. Old La Grange Road.
Tickets per couple are $35 for residents and $42 for nonresidents, and $15 for each additional child (open to ages 5 to 10). Tickets include unlimited bowling, shoes, pizza, pop, cake and a gift. Registration deadline is Wednesday.
The Mokena Park District also will offer a Valentine’s Day ride and dinner at Nova Quarter Horses in Mokena from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 13 and 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 14.
The evening includes a riding lesson and a spaghetti dinner with salad, rolls and beverages. Tickets per couple are $56 for residents and $67 for nonresidents. Advance registration is required.
The Feb. 13 event is for adults only. The Feb. 14 event is for ages 5 and up.
The registration deadline is Feb. 11.
