After crashing his car into a snow bank early Wednesday morning, an allegedly drunk Aurora man decided to take a nap inside his vehicle, Aurora police said.

Police found Ryan Durso, 25, 2400 block of Dogwood Lane, passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle at 1:17 a.m. It was stopped facing westbound on Benton Street, which is a one-way eastbound street.

According to Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli, Durso’s vehicle had apparently struck a snow bank, and came to a rest on top of it before he fell asleep at the wheel. Ferrelli said the vehicle was in drive and had its headlights on when police arrived.

Officers found Durso asleep inside the car and attempted to wake him several times to no avail, Ferrelli said. When he finally came to, police said Durso appeared drunk. He was arrested and charged with drunken driving.

During his transport to the Aurora Police Department, Ferrelli said Durso became uncooperative and began banging his head against the ceiling of the van.

In addition to drunken driving, Durso was charged with improper parking in a roadway, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic control device, and improper lane usage on a one-way street.
