A Wednesday night shooting ended with no injuries, but caused damage to a vehicle that was the suspect’s alleged target, Aurora police said.

A 22-year-old Aurora man reported that he was driving near California Avenue and Hammond Avenue around 8:10 p.m. when someone inside an SUV began shooting at him and his 18-year-old passenger.

Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said neither victim was injured during the shooting, but the victim’s vehicle was struck once and damaged.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as an older, white, SUV-style vehicle, similar to an Isuzu. There were an unknown number of people inside.

According to Aurora crime statistics, Wednesday’s shooting marks the 16th shooting this year.

Crime stats show that last year there were a total of three shootings throughout the entire month of January. At the year’s end, there were 108 reported incidents.

Anyone with information about any shooting is asked to call Aurora investigators at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
