Meet at the Anhinga Trail parking area at 8 a.m. Be prepared to drive your car more than 40 miles to Flamingo, stopping at points of interest along the main park road. Some walking is involved. Feb. 1: Snook season opens in Atlantic coastal and inland waters north of the Miami-Dade/Monroe county line. Anglers can keep one snook per day 28-32 inches long, measured from the most forward point of the head with the mouth closed to the farthest tip of the tail with the tail squeezed while the fish is lying on its side. The snook season in the Keys, Everglades National Park and along the Gulf coast opens on March 1.

Feb. 1: The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has Python Patrol training for people interested in learning about Burmese pythons and how to identify, report and safely capture the invasive snakes from 10 a.m.-noon at the FWC Regional Office at 8535 Northlake Blvd., West Palm Beach. Feb. 6: The 32nd Pineapple Cup-Montego Bay Race starts off Fort Lauderdale, with a fleet of 12 boats sailing 811 miles to Montego Bay, Jamaica. The first boat to finish the race, which is held every two years, in 2013 took two days, 10 hours and 24 minutes, which was 58 minutes off the record set in 2005. Visit pineapplecuprace.com.
