A 26-year-old man has been charged with shooting two men in Evanston on Monday afternoon, police said.

Andre Williams, of Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood, has been charged with one felony count of aggravated battery with a firearm and one felony count of aggravated discharge of a firearm, Evanston police said in a statement.

The shooting happened about 2 p.m. Monday near Custer Avenue and Brummel Street in the north suburb. Williams was riding in a vehicle when he allegedly fired shots at another vehicle, hitting an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old man.

The 18-year-old was shot in the knee and was treated at Presence St. Francis Hospital, police said. The 20-year-old was also taken to St. Francis after being grazed by a bullet, but the man left the hospital before being treated, police said.

Williams, of the 1600 block of West Juneway Terrace in Chicago, is scheduled to appear at the Skokie Courthouse but a date and time had not been set as of Tuesday night, police said.
