A man who attacked a relative with a knife in a west suburban hospital has been arrested in Indiana, authorities said.

Justin B. Patzer, 31, of Campton Hills, is facing several felony charges after police say he attacked a relative at Delnor Hospital in Geneva on Tuesday morning.

Geneva police were dispatched to the hospital on Randall Road about 9:35 a.m. after receiving a call of a man running through the hospital brandishing a knife, said Geneva police Cmdr. Julie Nash.

Patzer had been visiting a relative when he attempted to choke another relative and threatened the relative with a knife, according to a police statement.

Patzer fled about 10 minutes later in a red Dodge Caravan, and the hospital was under lockdown for about an hour and a half while officers searched the area, police said.

Police tracked Patzer to Indiana, where he was arrested about 8:45 p.m. by the Hammond Police Department. Patzer was charged with felony domestic battery, domestic battery and aggravated assault.

He was taken to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department in Crown Point, Ind. He is schedule to appear at an extradition hearing Wednesday.
