Key Largo: The Sixth Annual Key Largo Stone Crab & Seafood festival celebrates the bounty of the sea on Jan. 24-25. In addition to stone crabs, conch and local seafood, the family-friendly festival will feature music and live local entertainment. On the agenda are peel-and-eat shrimp and Key lime pie eating contests, cooking demonstrations, a “little mermaid” contest, kids’ play area with live fish aquarium, arts and crafts, Junkanoo band, magic shows and more. Tampa: Get ready for some swashbuckling fun at the Gasparilla Piratechnic Extravaganza & Children’s Gasparilla Parade. This alcohol-free event on Jan. 24 celebrates the return of Gasparilla Season in Tampa Bay. It is followed by the 100th Gasparilla Pirate Parade with the Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla on Jan. 31. Orange City: The 30th Annual Manatee Festival celebrates the gentle sea cow that once gave rise to the legends of mermaids on Jan. 24-25. The event, at Valentine Park on West French Avenue off Highway 17-92, offers manatee viewing, entertainment, arts and crafts, conservation exhibits, and a children’s area.
