1 in custody following North Riverside bank robbery

A man was in custody following a bank robbery Tuesday afternoon in North Riverside, authorities said.

A man robbed a Chase Bank branch at 1730 S. Harlem Ave. in North Riverside about 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to North Riverside Police.

The man who robbed the bank was described as Hispanic, standing between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-9. He was wearing a dark coat and brown boots, according to the FBI’s Bandit Tracker website.

A “person of interest” was taken into custody by the FBI within hours of the robbery, North Riverside Police Deputy Chief Deborah Garcia said.
