Three snowplows caught on fire the morning of Dec. 23, Franklin Park officials say.

Franklin Park firefighters were called to Tovar Snow Professionals, 9363 King Avenue about 9 a.m.

“We pulled up,” said Fire Chief Steve Iovinelli. “There was a lot of smoke coming out of the building. It was pitch black in there (with smoke). It wasn’t until firefighters were literally in front of the vehicles that they knew they were burning.”

One snowplow started on fire and the fire then spread to the two snowplows on either side of it.

Once they found the source of the fire, firefighters were able to extinguish it quickly, Iovinelli said.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
