A local’s keen eye on Facebook led to two people being charged with ransacking unlocked vehicles in Northlake on Dec. 12.

Police received several reports of vehicle burglaries including the first block of Charles Street, the 100 block of North Caryl Avenue and the 100 block of North Prater Avenue.

After the fact, “the victim from a previous burglary noticed something on Facebook that looked like his property,” said Commander Jay Militello.

From there, police interviewed two people, who they later charged. Militello said police also recovered a laptop computer and backpack from the burglaries.

RaShaun Sanders, 20, of 105 N. LaVergne Ave., Northlake, was charged with burglary to motor vehicle.

Mathew Ochoa, 20, of 5626 Henderson St., Chicago, was charged with criminal trespass to vehicle.

The next court date for both men is Dec. 23.
