Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was carted off the field in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts with a fractured left leg.
He is expected to miss the rest of the season, leaving the offense in the hands of rookie Tom Savage. Backup quarterback Ryan Mallett, who had replaced Fitzpatrick as the Texans’ starting quarterback, is out for the season with a torn pectoral.
Fitzpatrick was injured after a 2-yard run in the second quarter. An air cast was placed on his leg before he was carted off the field.

The team later ruled him out from the game.
