Jeremy Cordell, who guided Glenbard South’s football program to the playoffs four consecutive seasons, was named the new coach at Lincoln-Way Central on Thursday.
He’ll succeed Hud Venerable, who announced his retirement in November after two seasons as coach.
To listen to Cordell, Christmas arrived a little early in the form of a new position, school and, in the near future, a new address for his family.
“I have a lot of respect for the tradition at Lincoln-Way Central,” said Cordell, who turns 37 on Saturday. “I’m really excited for this opportunity. My wife and I love the community. We’re going to move to that area. I want my (four) children to go to Lincoln-Way Central. We’re just really excited.”
