Wilmette residents still have time to donate new toys for needy families this holiday season, through the annual Toys for Tots program, a Wilmete Fire Department official said this week.
Diane Anderson reminded residents that the fire department will be collecting toys for the longstanding U.S. Marine Corps Reserve program at both village fire stations until Dec. 15.
“We can collect them our fire station at 1304 Lake Avenue, and there is also a collection box at Village Hall, 1200 Wilmette Ave., ” she said Dec. 8. “We want people to be sure not to miss the deadline.”
Toys for Tots collects new, unwrapped toys between October and December every year and allows organizers to distribute toys as Christmas gifts to children from needy families.
