Christmas is for kids.

And south suburban villages, libraries and park districts have plenty of events — pajama parties, gingerbread house making, candy cane hunts, holiday movies and more — to celebrate the season.

Frankfort

The park district will host Reindeer Games from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 17 in the Founders Community Center, 140 Oak St. Designed for ages 3 to 8, the event will be a pajama party with a candy cane hunt and other games, storytelling, a holiday movie and snack. Mokena

A gingerbread house activity on Dec. 13 has different times for different ages. Those 4 to 7 are welcome from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and ages 8 to 12 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Mokena Community Park District’s Program Center, 10925 La Porte Road. New Lenox

The park district is offering Holiday Sunday Funday for all ages from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Dec 21, at 1 Manor Drive. Activities include holiday bingo, holiday cookie decorating and a candy cane hunt. The cost is $4, free for children 2 and under. The registration deadline is Monday.

During Holiday Mini Horse Camp Dec. 29 and Dec. 30 at Nova Quarter Horse, Inc, 10129 W. 187th St. in Mokena, children ages 7 to 18 will get hands-on experience in grooming, bridling and saddling horses and have riding lessons. The New Lenox Public Library, 120 Veterans Parkway, will host Merry Grinchmas! from 10:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 20. Kids are invited to enjoy the story and movie of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” games and crafts.

The library also will host Polar Express Pajama Party at 6 p.m. Dec. 22. Registration is required.

Residents are invited to the village’s 17th annual holiday ice skating party from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 30 at Arctic Ice Arena, 10700 W. 160th St. in Orland Park. Admission is free. Skate rental is $1. Orland Park
