The good news for the Bears is that their local rating for last night’s game against Dallas beat the live performance of “Peter Pan” on NBC.
The bad news is that the rating was considerably off from a comparable game in 2013.
The ratings decline for the struggling Bears continued Thursday. The game did a combined local rating of 26.2 on CBS2 and NFL Network; 1 local ratings point is worth more than 35,000 homes.
That rating was off 31 percent from the Bears-Dallas Monday night game during week 13 in 2013. That game pulled a combined 37.7 rating on ABC7/ESPN.
Thursday’s rating definitely would have been in the high 30s again with a better game and if the Bears were in contention. It doesn’t bode well for ESPN, which will air the Bears-New Orleans game on Monday night, Dec. 15.
At least ESPN won’t have to compete against “Peter Pan,” which did a 6.1 rating in Chicago Thursday.
