A popular St. Charles bar will not be allowed to sell alcohol for an entire weekend next month after violating the city’s liquor ordinances.
The Filling Station Pub & Grill will be prohibited from serving alcohol from 1. a.m. Dec. 11 through 1 a.m. Dec. 14, after the business’ liquor license was suspended for selling alcohol to a minor.
On Nov. 17, the St. Charles Liquor Control Commission conducted a hearing to decide the Filling Station’s punishment.
It was also decided that the bar’s late night permit be revoked for the entire month of December, and on Jan. 1, as well. No alcoholic drinks will be sold or served after 1 a.m. on those days.
The business will also pay a $2,500 fine, and $500 in court costs.
“We seek order and dignity in our downtown,” said Mayor Raymond Rogina, who also acts as Liquor Control Commissioner. “There are penalties associated with this incident. However, there are opportunities, looking ahead, to mirror the good practices of many of our licensees.”
