Guard Jordan Sibert scored a game-high 22 points as host Dayton built a late first-half lead and then blew past Illinois–Chicago in the second half Saturday for a 75-41 nonconference victory at UD Arena.
Center Devon Scott tallied 13 points and nine rebounds and guard Scoochie Smith scored 10 points as the Flyers (4-1) won their second straight.
Forward Jake Wiegand scored 11 points as the Flames (2-5) shot just 15 of 54 (27.8 percent) on the way to their fourth loss in five games. It was Weigand’s seventh straight game in double figures.
Sibert scored 10 first-half points while the Flyers used a 12-2 run in the final 6:31 for a 27-16 halftime lead, their largest lead of the game to that point.
Dayton opened the second half with a 24-4 surge — including 16 unanswered points — to extend the lead to 51-20 with 12:49 to play.
The Flyers, who reached the NCAA Elite Eight last season, improved to 28-2 in November dating back to the 2005-06 season.
