A 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg during a dispute in La Grange Friday night, police said.
About 10:45 p.m., police received reports from callers hearing three gunshots in the area of Calendar and Sawyer avenues, said La Grange Police Chief Michael Holub. Officers responded to the area but did not locate anyone at that time, Holub said.
Just before 11 p.m., a representative from La Grange Memorial Hospital called the department to report that a 16-year-old boy had arrived in the emergency room with a gunshot wound on his leg, Holub said.

The victim’s injuries were minor and he was treated and released that evening.
Though the investigation is ongoing, police believe that the attack was not a drive-by or a random shooting, Holub said on Monday. The victim and some friends intentionally went to that area of the village and became involved in a loud dispute with several men in their late teens and early 20s, Holub said.
When the dispute escalated, one of the men then fired three shots in the victim’s direction, Holub said.
“There were some people that went to a place looking for a little bit of a confrontation and found one,” he said.
He declined to say how many individuals were involved in the incident, but said it was isolated and there was no threat to community members.
