Your Bears Brain Teaser takes a break for Thanksgiving next week, so we’re talking turkey this week.
Since former teammate and this week’s quarterback opponent, Josh McCown, isn’t much of a bettor (Jay told reporters that this week), we won’t see the pair wagering their paychecks on the outcome of the game. However, let’s pretend the pair decides to donate one of their paydays to charity, specifically, buying Thanksgiving dinners for folks in need.
Assuming Cutler and McCown get paid 26 times a year like most folks, how many dinners could each QB give away? (Use their base salaries and the American Farm Bureau’s 2014 estimate for a complete Thanksgiving meal.)
ANSWER: The American Farm Bureau estimates a complete Thanksgiving meal will cost $49.41. Cutler could buy 17,514 meals from his $865,385 paycheck from his $22.5 million guaranteed base salary, and McCown could buy 2,919 meals from his $144,231 paycheck from his $3.75 million 2014 salary.
Rules: Submit your answer by 10 p.m. Sunday via Twitter to @redeyesportschi (must follow him to qualify). One guess per person. If multiple people submit the correct answer, the winner will be drawn at random.
At stake: A guest spot in the Five on Five panel on Dec. 5. We’ll reveal the answer Monday. Good luck!
