Kurt Kittner is leaving his role as the radio analyst for Illinois football.

The former Illini quarterback told the Champaign-Urbana News Gazette that the demands of his job working for a real estate company in the Chicago area and his family, which includes two young kids, factored into his decision.

“I always thought it would be something where I could bring them down and enjoy the experience of home games,” Kittner said. “It just hasn’t been easy doing it because you’re in a hotel with kids. It wasn’t the fun that I expected it to be with the family. It was more work for both me and my wife.”

Kittner, an analyst since 2007, will be honored at Illinois’ final home game against Penn State Saturday.

As for possible replacements, the New-Gazette speculated that Martin O’Donnell could be a candidate. The Former Illini All-American subbed for Kittner earlier this season and received favorable reviews.
