
The holidays are upon us! Usher in the season with a festive tree-lighting ceremony, plus other can’t-miss local events.
Holiday kickoff
Highland Park will be ushering in the holidays with its annual holiday tree-lighting ceremony from 3 until 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Port Clinton Square.
A holiday scavenger hunt will be followed by the official lighting of more than 200 trees at 5 p.m. Shops in the downtown area will be open. For details, go to downtownhp.com.
Acoustic concert
Norton’s Restaurant in Highland Park welcomes Chicago singer/songwriter Owen Stevenson to the stage at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. He will perform an acoustic set of original compositions and pop covers from the 1950s to today.

Sunday soiree
Join various groups from Midwest Young Artists as they perform their Sunday Soiree — chamber music by talented young musicians at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Open jam
Tuesday nights mean Open Blues and Jazz Jam at The Alley in Highwood. Musicians play from 7 until 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Alley is at 210 Green Bay Road. For details, call 847-433-0304.
