Nick Frost will star as Santa Claus in the upcoming “Doctor Who” 2014 Christmas special.
Frost, who starred in “Spaced” and “Shaun of the Dead,” appeared briefly at the end of the Season 8 finale over the weekend, popping into the TARDIS to see The Doctor (Peter Capaldi). The Doctor and Clara (Jenna Coleman) encounter Santa Claus presumably while visiting the North Pole.
“It’s Christmas at the North Pole,” The Doctor says, “Who you gonna call?”
Er, ghostbusters? No. Santa! Because probably no one called that “Alien”-like creature with the saliva problem. Or is it a further mutated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle?
You’ll have to watch the Christmas special, which traditionally airs Christmas night on BBC America.
Other guest stars in the Christmas special include Michael Troughton, who is the son of Second Doctor Patrick Troughton, Natalie Gumede, Faye Marsay and Nathan McMullen. Showrunner Steven Moffat wrote the special, which is directed by Paul Wilmshurst.
