will close Dec. 15, according to an announcement released by the bar’s owners.

Janis White and Luz Cordova said in a statement that “everyone is encouraged to stop by often in the coming weeks to say farewell to Hungry Brain,” a 17-year-old Roscoe Village institution known for its eclectic jukebox and for hosting jazz shows and poetry readings.

Scheduled lectures, performances and concerts will continue through Dec. 15, including Umbrella Music’s Sunday evening show “Transmission Series.”
