The accident occurred about 2:30 p.m. Monday when a hayride wagon tipped as it was being pulled by a tractor at Bengtson’s Pumpkin Farm in Will County, according to fire officials.
A grandmother, father and daughter were taken to Silver Cross Hospial in New Lenox for minor injuries, the officials said.
The Will County Sheriff’s Office said a part came loose as the ride was going down a slight embankment, causing the wagon to tip as 12 passengers were aboard.
Bengtson’s Pumpkin Farm said in a statement on its Facebook page that the passengers “were jostled.”
“Our hayracks go 2.5 mph,” the statement said. “We are currently looking into what may have caused the event. This is the first event of any kind that has ever occurred involving our hayride over a 34-year period. … We have decided to discontinue the hayrack ride until the cause of the event can be determined.”
