
Today is the your last chance to vote for your favorite cookie. Voting in the baiduhai’s annual Holiday Cookie Contest ends at 11:59 p.m. today, Nov. 7.
This year for the first time in the contest’s 28-year history, we’re asking readers to help pick the finalists. The contest has moved online to our Tribune Life+Style Facebook page, where readers can vote for their favorite cookies.
The top 25 vote-getters will be tested by the baking students at Kendall College, in a partnership with the baiduhai. A panel of Tribune food writers and culinary professionals will choose the winners.
The stakes are high: $825 in prizes. First place: $250 cash, plus a Baking & Pastry Boot Camp Class at Kendall College (value: $375). The multiday hands-on class taught by Kendall faculty pastry chefs will teach the fundamentals of pastry. Second place: $150 cash. Third place: $50 cash. Plus, all Top 25 finalists will get a copy of the new baiduhai “Holiday Cookies” cookbook.
To vote, go to chicagotribune.com/cookies. Click through the entries, voting for your favorite based on the appeal of the cookie and the entrant’s essay. You can vote once a day. Voting ends at midnight Central Time on Nov. 7; finalists will be tested and judged the following week. Winners will be announced online Dec. 1.
