Area park districts and other groups are offering a variety of Halloween activities for all ages.
Events for tots to adults include a Boo Bash and Zombie Apocalypse in Mundelein, Main Street trick-or-treating in Libertyville, and a candy buy-back to benefit troops.
Lake County Forest Preserves will offer Halloween Hikes, trick-or-treating and more.
Mundelein
The seventh annual Pumpkin Drop will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at Keith Mione Community Park, 1401 N. Midlothian Road. Pumpkin rolling, a race to fill cans with pumpkins and other activities will be offered along with information on composting and recycling.

Registration is open until Sunday for the pumpkin launch. Twenty winners will be selected, with distance winners receiving a prize. The Big Red catapult is designed and built by Mundelein High School students.
Finally, a new haunted house, Carnival of Chaos, is open from 7 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Nov. 1 at Barefoot Bay Family Aquatic Center. It is suitable for ages 17 and older, while ages 15 and 16 are permitted with parental supervision.

The Operation Gratitude Halloween Candy Buy Back will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 7, and 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 8 at the office of Dr. David Honey, 915 N. Milwaukee Ave.
The dentist will pay $1 per pound for unopened candy (up to 10 pounds). The candy will be sent to Operation Gratitude in Van Nuys, Calif., for holiday packages for troops stationed in war zones. For information, call 847-362-9700 or go to opgratitude.com.
