We’re changing things up this week in 4 Downs With Jason McKie. In the wake of Brandon Marshall’s venting session on Sunday, RedEye asked the former Bears fullback to give us his favorite sports rants of all time, including a bonus down.

FIFTH DOWN: Jim Mora, November 2001

The Indianapolis coach was pessimistic that his team would make the playoffs. And it didn’t.

“Don’t talk about playoffs. You kiddin’ me? Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game.”

FOURTH DOWN: Allen Iverson, May 2002

The Philadelphia 76ers guard can’t believe he’s being asked about you-know-what.

“I’m supposed to be the franchise player, and we in here talking about practice. I mean, listen, we’re talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, we talking about practice.”

THIRD DOWN: Bart Scott, January 2011

All the N.Y. Jets linebacker wanted was a little respect for his team’s defense.

“All we hear his about [the New England] defense. They can’t stop a nosebleed. [They’re] 25th in the league, and we the one that gets disrespected.”

SECOND DOWN: Mike Singletary, October 2008

The former Bears linebacker and then-San Francisco coach lists all the things he cannot do.

“Cannot play with ’em, cannot win with ’em, cannot coach with ’em. Can’t do it.”

“He’s not gonna take no foolishness, so that’s Mike Singletary in a nutshell,” McKie said. “He’s a guy who believes in putting the team first, especially when he’s coaching. Basically saying we don’t need one person to win a game, I don’t care who you are. It takes a team to win a game. So I think that’s why he sent Vernon Davis to the locker room because Vernon Davis at that point felt like he was bigger than the team, and Mike Singletary brought him back down to Earth. And I think that catapulted Vernon Davis’ career.”

FIRST DOWN: Dennis Green, October 2006

Ah yes, perhaps the king of all rants. Note Green slamming his hand on the podium, too.

“The Bears are who we thought they were, and that’s why we took the damn field. Now, if you wanna crown ’em, then crown their ass. But they are who we thought they were, and we let ’em off the hook!”

“I didn’t hear it until I got home after the game,” McKie said. “When they had their press conference, we were still loading the bus, loading the plane to fly back to Chicago. When we got back, it was played the next day like crazy on ‘SportsCenter’ and every media outlet out there.

“We could see why he was pissed. We thought it was funny. Obviously he was a good coach and you could see his passion. But obviously we were just glad to be on the other side of that rant. We’re glad it wasn’t [Bears coach] Lovie [Smith] ranting like that.”
