There will be no classes again on Wednesday for Waukegan students because of a teachers strike that has continued for nearly three weeks.
After a break from talks for a few days, union and Waukegan School District officials returned to the bargaining table at 9 a.m. Tuesday and were still negotiating late Tuesday evening.
“Despite a committed effort from both parties, no additional resolutions have been reached today and schools will remain closed on Wednesday, October 22,” the school board said in a statement Tuesday night.
The Illinois Federation of Teachers also released a statement saying: “The teachers want nothing more than to return to the classroom. The Union’s team is dedicated to hammering out a deal that is fair for teachers, students, and the community it serves.”
Teachers gave been on strike since Oct. 2.
School officials said further updates will be available on the District website, www.wps60.org.
