Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Name: Phiaton Chord MS 530

What they are: Stylish Bluetooth noise-canceling headphones with titanium drivers that enhance low bass and high treble notes with a clean, crisp sound. Memory foam makes the sculpted leather ear pads extremely comfortable. The Bluetooth is designed to allow users to connect two devices simultaneously. Included are a microphone remote cable for use with non-Bluetooth devices and a travel pouch.

The good: These on-ear headphones are lightweight and extremely comfortable, which shocked me because I usually prefer over-ear headphones to on-ear. Bluetooth pairing is easy, and the Chord allows you to operate from an iPad and iPhone simultaneously. The audio is concert-quality, whether I’m listening to pop, rock or classical music. And these headphones fold for easy storage in their pouch, which makes them ideal for travel. Between charges, extremely long battery provides about 30 hours of talk or music time without noise cancellation and 18 hours with it.

The bad: The audio quality on phone calls is better with the optional microphone cable than on Bluetooth. Friends say my voice is slightly muffled on Bluetooth and crystal clear with the cable. The noise-canceling isn’t very effective in diminishing plane engine noise. I’ve tested headphones with better noise-cancellation but less stellar audio.

Cost: $349, but many retailers sell for $299
