Carnival Cruise Lines’ newest ship, the 3,954-passenger Carnival Vista, marked a construction milestone this week with a traditional keel-laying ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, where it’s being built.
The 133,500-ton vessel — Carnival’s largest “Fun Ship” ever constructed — is set to debut in spring 2016.
The keel-laying ceremony typically signifies the official start of construction of a seagoing vessel.
The new ship will be the 25th in Carnival’s fleet and will feature a variety of enhanced “Fun Ship 2.0” dining, bar and entertainment offerings as well as several innovations unique to this vessel, the Miami-based cruise operator said.
Additional design details, as well as homeport and itinerary information, are expected to be announced early next year.
