Happy Global Handwashing Day!

No really, go wash your hands. Because if you aren’t freaked out about Ebola, you should at least know Chicago ranks as the No. 1 city for rats. More on that below.

Don’t worry. There’s plenty floating around the Internet to distract you from the Ebola and rat nasties, like $1 pizza in Chicago, grammar geekery and the Blackhawks. Sit back, wash up and take a click through this week’s Mick’s Tape.

>>YouTube: “Jen from Appleton”

If you haven’t yet met Angela from Oshkosh, Wisc., and watched her rant about Bath and Body Works employee “Jen from Appleton,” drop everything immediately. It’s a masterpiece of a rant about customer service that should carry a trigger warning for anyone that’s ever worked retail. Buzzfeed has a great summary to catch you up on all the memes it has spawned (“Hey, stop being such a Jen from Appleton!”). Angela’s vendetta against Jen even inspired a group of Wisconsin filmmakers to do a spot-on re-enactment of the video, and also inspired me to ressurect a photogallery of Chicago themed scented candles I made a while ago, for some reason.

>>Deal: $1 pizza. Catch: It’s Domino’sDomino's

If eating your feelings is on tap for the weekend, between noon and 1:40 p.m. Saturday is when to do it. Domino’s has a $1 medium, one-topping pizza deal in that window for Chicago customers this weekend. There are a few rules and limitations you’ll want to read up on before digging through the couch for pizza change.

>>Trending: Rats. We’re #1!Rats

When news broke that the Wilson CTA stop will be overhauled, so did the revelation that the area will likely become overrun with rats during construction. Maybe that’s why pest control company Orkin ranks Chicago No. 1 for rats.

>>Grammar: Your doing it rightGrammar

I’m no grammar nerd. My editor weeps when I hand things in, and I just figured out that it’s incorrect to say “all of the sudden.” However a really helpful piece by sci-fi junkie blog “i09” has a roundup of 10 grammar mistakes people love to correct that aren’t actually wrong. Hopefully you’ll find it useful.

>>VIDEO: Hawks on ice

The Blackhawks have a super fancy new intro for the season, and you’re going to want to watch it full screen. Looks like the United Center AV team has turned the entire rink into a big screen TV. Free idea, Hawks! Screen “The Mighty Ducks” on a night when the Bulls/Blackhawks are away. I’ll be a paying customer.

Editor’s note: Reporter Mick Swasko is actually great at grammar—a total word nerd. In fact, he taught me the meaning of two words last week: prophylactic and coitus. Apparently I need to revisit sex ed.
