You don’t have to be an expert in Indian cuisine to cook up a good plate of spicy stir-fry. In her newest cookbook, “Indian for Everyone,” Chicago-based author Anupy Singla tells readers that Indian cookery really is for everyone, from curry-skeptics to seasoned Indian cooks, from meat-eaters to vegans and vegetarians.
Singla is also the author of “Vegan Indian Cooking” and one of Amazon’s best-selling Indian cookbooks, “The Indian Slow Cooker.” She is the author and co-founder of the website indianasapplepie.com, where she sells spices and culinary tools.
“Indian for Everyone” (Agate Surrey, $35) is a compilation of some of the most popular Indian recipes, with different preparation styles and ingredients for each one, as well as adaptations for making a meal vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free. Singla touches on the basics of spice blends and shares personal stories behind the recipes.
She’ll be making several appearances in coming days, cooking from the book and signing copies.
