Whether the Chicago forecast chooses to cooperate or not, the end of outdoor dining season in Chicago is approaching. Fountainhead (1970 W. Montrose Ave., 773-697-8204) will celebrate the coming of fall on its roof deck with a Harvest Dinner ($65) at 7 p.m. Wednesday. If there is inclement weather, the dinner will be held underneath a canopy on the roof or inside the restaurant.
Chef Cleetus Friedman’s menu will be served family style, with each of the courses paired with a fall beer, whiskey or wine. The dinner will feature Metropolitan brews and Angel’s Envy Whiskey, including a Metropolitan specialty cask and a preview tasting of Fountainhead’s Angel’s Envy blend.
The first course is roasted bone marrow served with pickled vegetables, fruit mostarda and toast points. The second course comprises three menu items: The first two highlight seasonal vegetables, including a salad with roasted butter turnips, and brussels sprouts and delicata squash hash with quinoa. Sliced herbed roast beef served with horseradish cream and baguette rounds out course two. Caramel-apple bread pudding will be served for dessert.
