The National Hellenic Museum (333 S. Halsted St., 312-655-1234) will hold its annual food and wine event, Kouzina, from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday.

Chefs will present their takes on classic Greek dishes, and chef Diane Kochilas will sign copies of her book “Ikaria: Food, Life and Longevity from the Greek Island Where People Forget to Die.”

Among the chefs scheduled to appear are Jimmy Bannos (Heaven on Seven); Erik Freeberg (Bar Toma); Cleetus Friedman (Fountainhead); John Gatsos (Tavern on Rush); Peter Kappos (Greek Islands); David Schneider (Taxim); and bakers Rich Labriola (Stan’s Donuts) and Athena and James Manolakos (Pan-Hellenic Pastry Shop).

Today in Greek, the word “Kouzina” (????¿?a) is used when describing cuisine, the kitchen or electric stove/oven, says Connie Mourtoupalas, president of the National Hellenic Museum.
