The University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business has again topped The Economist’s list of best full-time MBA programs.
This is the fourth time in five years that Booth has captured the top spot in the rankings, which are published annually.
Booth was followed by Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business and the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business in third place. The rankings including 100 schools. Northwestern’s Kellogg moved up to No. 14 from 23 last year.
Booth landing the top spot was the result of several factors including the median salary upon graduating, median GMAT scores and the percentage of graduates with jobs within three months. A qualitative survey was also included, asking students and graduates to rate factors such as the quality of the faculty, the school’s facilities and the career services department.
The quantitative factors are worth 80 percent of a program’s ranking; the qualitative responses carry 20 percent.
Booth, whose annual tuition of $123,040 is among the most expensive on the list, received high marks in all categories considered, including 94 percent of its graduates landing jobs within three months of getting their degree and a median salary of $116,302 for Booth graduates. Graduate median salary however, is not as high as those who get their MBAs from Harvard Business School, where the median salary for graduates is just over $120,000.
