The NCAA on Thursday granted Northwestern defensive lineman Sean McEvilly a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA, allowing the Wildcat to return to play football in 2015. The school announced the NCAA’s decision Thursday.
McEvilly, who is sitting out the entire 2014 season because of a foot injury, was expected to be a starter on the Wildcats’ defensive line.
Considered the best defensive lineman for the Wildcats, McEvilly missed seven games last season, too.
The senior tackle started 10 games for the Wildcats in 2012. He is an Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
