A 34-year-old Elmwood Park man has been reported missing, said police in the west suburb.
Johnny Cuevas Ortega was last seen Sept. 20 at his home, said Police Chief Frank Fagiano. Ortega, who lives with his mother in the 2300 block of North 73rd Court, left home to go to the store and never returned, said his brother Hector Cuevas.
“He said he was going to go to the store real quick … and he’s been missing since,” his brother said, adding that this is the first time his brother has gone missing. “He’s usually good about that. He always comes back.”
Ortega has schizophrenia, his brother said, and is likely traveling on foot. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt.
“He’s a very gentle nice person,” his brother said. “He’s very quiet. He’s very well-spoken.”
He is described as Hispanic with a light complexion, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 140 pounds with green eyes and brown hair.
“We’re doing everything possible to locate him,” Fagiano said.
