There will be many stories coming out of the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, but none will be as unique, and perhaps as inspiring, as Jeff Hobbs’.
Comcast SportsNet will present “Guts: The Jeff Hobbs Story” at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The 30-minute documentary will focus on Hobbs’ attempt to run the Oct. 12 marathon despite being with born with an advanced stage of spastic cerebral palsy.
Hobbs, 35, grew up as a sports fan in Coal City, Ill. Despite encountering many doubts and obstacles along the way, he made his high school cross-country team. From there, his love of running took on a life of its own.
“This isn’t just about a runner with cerebral palsy training for the Chicago Marathon, this is about how we all get knocked down in life,” Hobbs said. “We all have challenges … we all face obstacles … and we have to be resilient to pick yourself up because life is challenging. There is not one person that doesn’t face a challenge and it is the ability to get back up and keep moving forward that makes the difference.”
The film was produced and written by Sarah Lauch and narrated by Jen Lada.
