Even with the Bears facing the Jets on “Monday Night Football,” fans flocked to the United Center for the Blackhawks’ training camp festival.
Hours before Monday night’s scrimmage, a line wrapped around the building as fans were eager to get their first look at the 2014-15 Hawks.
However, they didn’t get a chance to see top prospect Teuvo Teravainen, who remains sidelined with an upper-body injury suffered during Saturday’s scrimmage at Notre Dame. During that scrimmage, Teravainen was leveled by an open-ice hit from defenseman Cam Barker.
“Teuvo is fine, he probably could play,” Coach Joel Quenneville said.
Teravainen is expected to be available when the Hawks face the Red Wings in an exhibition game Tuesday night at the UC.
Other players sitting out Monday night included Duncan Keith, Michal Rozsival, Niklas Hjalmarsson, Kris Versteeg and Joakim Nordstrom. They are expected to play Tuesday night.
All six goalies were expected to share time between the pipes Monday night.
