Great things have come in threes for Diana Taurasi.
When she led the Mercury past the Sky Friday in a three-game sweep (what else?) of the WNBA Finals, it gave the 32-year-old guard a third WNBA title (after 2007 and 2009) to go with her three Olympic gold medals for the United States (2004-08-12) and three NCAA championships for Connecticut (2002-3-4).
This is how Taurasi looks at each part of her unprecedented triple triple:
“College ones feel great, because when you’re in college, you really are in a family atmosphere with people that are my friends for life. Olympics, it’s for your country, you wear that flag, and there is no other feeling like that. And then, the WNBA is the best competition in the world, so when you’re champions here, you’re champions.”
