Bring the boots and leave the umbrella at home for Riot Fest Friday.

It’s already muddy in lower lying areas of Humboldt Park this morning, according to a public relations representative for Riot Fest, and crews are working to get those areas covered. The must-wear ssentials, the representative said, are boots, ponchos and possibly an extra pair of socks.

Because umbrellas are on the list of prohibited items at the fest, attendees should either leave them at home or drop them at the front gate. Rain coats and ponchos are totally fine, however, according to Riot Fest’s prohibited item FAQ.

According to the Chicago Weather Center, Friday’s weather is expected to be unseasonably cool with extensive clouds. The forecast calls for a high of 58 degrees, with showers coming in from the west this afternoon. It’s not ideal fest weather, as Friday marks the earliest back-to-back 50-degree days in September in 90 years.
