> Did you hear? Chef Takashi Yagahashi bested David Burke on “Top Chef Duels” this week, winning with a series of dishes involving sea squirt, armadillo and black sapote (a type of persimmon). Takashi moves on to the show’s finale, airing on Bravo Oct. 8.
> On Thursday we told you Umami Burger is opening its first Chicago location on Sept. 18. The same restaurant group also runs 800 Degrees Neopolitan Pizzeria, and it’ll be coming to Evanston (812 Church St.) in 2015. The Southern California-based pizza chain is looking to open upward of five stores in the Chicago area.
